[post_content] => Anthony Veder has acquired two 10,000-m³ multigas carriers from the now-defunct Norgas Carriers fleet. Both vessels are capable of handling LNG and ethylene, as well as LPG and petrochemical gases. Veder is to upgrade both ships to its own standards and make them available to the market in the second quarter.
“The acquisition is consistent with our focus on providing safe and sustainable shipping solutions to our customers in the petrochemical gas segment and in the small scale LNG market,” says Anthony Veder CEO Jan Valkier. “This fleet expansion marks an important step in our continuous commitment to both segments.”
Norgas Invention and Norgas Creation were built in China in 2010/11 and have now been renamed Coral Favia and Coral Fungia. Brokers indicate a price of some $54.2m for the two.
The acquisition was announced two weeks after Anthony Veder took advantage of another opportunity, picking up a 30,000-m³ LNG newbuilding at Zhejiang Xinle Shipbuilding in Ningbo in a resale deal. The vessel will now be completed under supervision of Anthony Veder and is expected to be ready for worldwide trading in the summer.
“We are proud to add a new LNG carrier to our fleet in this relatively short time frame and look forward to our close cooperation with Xinle Shipbuilding to finalise the vessel,” says Valkier. “Our company has a long history in building and delivering ships in China such as the LNG-fuelled LEG vessels Coral Star and Coral Sticho. We are excited to return to China for this latest addition to our fleet after five years of absence.”
